## Verdict

The Realme Narzo 90 is the best phone under ₹20,000 for most people: a bright AMOLED screen, a 7,000mAh battery with 60W charging, IP69 protection and three Android upgrades. Pick the Moto G96 for the best display and camera, or the iQOO Z11x if performance matters most.

## Products compared

| Product | Brand | Score (/10) | Launch price |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Realme Narzo 90 | Realme | 8.4 | ₹16,999 |
| Motorola Moto G96 5G | Motorola | 8.2 | ₹17,999 |
| iQOO Z11x | iQOO | 8.0 | ₹18,999 |

Under ₹20,000 is where most Indians buy their phones, and it is also where it is easiest to buy the wrong one. Shop listings are full of phones with 4GB of RAM, HD+ screens and slow storage, dressed up with big battery numbers and "AI camera" badges.

We went through spec sheets, launch details and independent reviews for every notable phone in this price range to find the three that are actually worth buying today.

## The short list

| | Best for | Launch price |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Realme Narzo 90** | Most people | ₹16,999 |
| **Moto G96 5G** | Display and camera | ₹17,999 |
| **iQOO Z11x** | Performance and battery | ₹18,999 |

## 1. Realme Narzo 90: the best all-rounder

The Narzo 90 doesn't have a weak spot that matters for everyday use. Its 6.57-inch AMOLED screen runs at 120Hz and is rated at up to 4,000 nits peak, so it stays readable outdoors. The 7,000mAh battery comfortably lasts beyond a day, and 60W charging takes it from 1% to 50% in about half an hour.

It is also the toughest phone here. IP66, IP68 and IP69 ratings mean it is protected against dust, submersion and even high-pressure water jets. Despite the huge battery, it is just 7.79mm thick and weighs 181g.

Software support is the best in this list: three Android upgrades and four years of security patches.

**Keep in mind:** the Dimensity 6400 Max is a sensible everyday chip, not a gaming chip, and the camera setup is a single useful 50MP sensor with no ultra-wide. Photos are good in daylight but fall behind in low light.

**Buy it if** you want one phone that does everything well and will stay supported for years.

## 2. Moto G96 5G: the best screen and camera

Motorola's G96 is the phone to pick if you spend most of your time looking at the screen. Its 6.67-inch curved pOLED panel runs at 144Hz with 10-bit colour, which makes it the smoothest and most colour-rich display in this list.

The camera is its other strength. The 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C main sensor has optical image stabilisation, there is an 8MP ultra-wide for group shots, and the 32MP front camera records 4K video. Every variant gets 8GB of RAM and the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, and the phone is IP68 rated.

**Keep in mind:** Motorola only promises three years of security updates, less than the other two picks. The 5,500mAh battery and 33W charging are fine, but clearly behind the Narzo and iQOO. And the G96 launched in July 2025, so it is the oldest phone here.

**Buy it if** display quality and photos matter more to you than battery life.

## 3. iQOO Z11x: the most powerful

The iQOO Z11x has the fastest chip in this list, the Dimensity 7400 Turbo, paired with quicker UFS 3.1 storage. It handles games and heavy multitasking better than the other two, and its 7,200mAh battery is the largest here. You can even use it to charge your earbuds, thanks to reverse charging.

It is also IP68 and IP69 rated, records 4K video from both cameras, and includes an IR blaster to control your TV or AC.

**Keep in mind:** the screen is an LCD rather than AMOLED, so blacks and contrast don't match the Narzo or Moto. Only the 6GB/128GB variant (₹18,999) fits this budget, there is no microSD slot, and it arrives with pre-installed apps you'll want to remove.

**Buy it if** you play games or want the biggest battery you can get.

| Security updates | 4 years | 3 years | 4 years |

## What to avoid under ₹20,000

A lot of phones in this range look good on a spec sheet but cut corners where it hurts. Be careful with:

- **4GB of RAM.** Fine for a few months, frustrating after a couple of years.
- **HD+ (720p) screens.** Text and photos look visibly softer than on a Full HD+ panel.
- **eMMC storage.** Much slower than UFS. Apps open and install noticeably slower.
- **Unclear update promises.** If a brand doesn't state how long it will send security patches, assume it won't be long.

## Phones we left out

The **CMF Phone 2 Pro** and **OPPO K13** are both excellent and launched under ₹20,000, but current listings put them above this budget. The **Samsung Galaxy F70 5G** has an AMOLED screen and an OIS camera, but its Exynos 1330 chip and 90Hz display make it hard to recommend over these three at ₹19,999.

## How we chose

## FAQ

On paper, the iQOO Z11x with its 7,200mAh battery, closely followed by the Realme Narzo 90 at 7,000mAh. The Narzo charges faster (60W against 44W), so it spends less time plugged in.

### Is 4GB of RAM enough in 2026?

Not for a phone you plan to keep for three years or more. Apps and Android itself keep getting heavier, and 4GB phones slow down sooner. Aim for at least 6GB, and 8GB if your budget allows.

Yes. AMOLED panels have true blacks, better contrast and usually higher outdoor brightness, and they allow an in-display fingerprint sensor. Under ₹20,000 it is one of the most noticeable everyday upgrades.

### Which of these phones gets updates for longest?

The Realme Narzo 90, with three Android upgrades and four years of security patches. The iQOO Z11x promises four years of security patches and the Moto G96 three years.

### Will these prices stay the same?

Unlikely. Phone prices in India change often with sales and bank offers, and several phones that launched under ₹20,000 now sell above it. The prices here are launch prices, so check the current price before you buy.
